SECTA training academy regards literacy and numeracy skills to be very important in the NSW security industry, as they are in most industries. Security professionals need to be able to read and comprehend written instructions, reports, and incident logs, as well as communicate effectively with their colleagues and clients.
Numeracy skills are also essential for security personnel, as they often need to make quick and accurate calculations, such as determining the correct change to give to a customer, or calculating the time required to respond to an incident.

SECTA will only accept students who not only pass the literacy and numeracy, but are able to communicate effectively.
