What is the role of a security officer?

Overall, security officers are tasked with securing the premises and personnel by staying on patrol, monitoring surveillance equipment, performing building inspections, guarding entry points, and verifying visitors.
A security officer is a person employed by a government or private industry to protect the employing party’s asset, peoples property from hazards, damaged property, unsafe work activity, criminal activity, by enforcing preventative measures. Security officers do this by maintaining, a high-visibility presence to deter illegal, and inappropriate actions.
Since 1984, SECTA has trained over 40,000 security officers, and there are currently approximately 53,000 security officers in NSW and over 147,000 security officers throughout Australia.
