Two – Way Radio Call Signs & Codes

The use of call signs and codes in the security industry varies between organisations and workplaces and is determined by the site’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The phonetic alphabet is commonly used, along with codes such as those outlined in the Australian Standards for emergency situations. Security officers use these codes to communicate various types of emergencies, such as code black for personal threats, code blue for medical emergencies, and code red for fires. Different codes may be used at different sites, such as S1, S2, and S3 for security call signs, or C10, C11, and C12 for other sites. At SECTA, Alpha 1 and 2, and Bravo 1 and 2 are used in the classroom as part of their course.
